UMBRO CUP MANCHESTER 2007
Our under 12 and under 15 sides headed off to Manchester
to take part in the Umbro Cup on Monday 31st July 2007.This is a fantastic tournament
which takes place annually and draws entries from all over the world.
Our under 12's were in a group with teams from South Africa,Saudia Arabia and England.
We lost their opening game 1-0 to the South African side,beat the English side Winford 5-1,
and the highlight of the group stage was an emphatic victory against the highly rated Saudie team.
We had now qualified for the quarter final stage of the tournament.
However this was where the journey ended for us as we went out on penalties
7-6 after a titanic struggle.Well done to the lads and we hope everyone enjoyed the experience.
The lads went on a trip to Anfield to take in the surroundings and dream of running out some day to a full stadium.
The under 15's played 5 games in their group.
In a highly competitive group we won 2,drew 1 and lost 2 by a single goal.
The highlight being a pulsating victory against the side from Johannesburg,Belgrade F.C.
We qualified for the quarter final stages of the competition.
However again this is where the journey ended as we lost 3-0.
The club would like to thank all the parents and supporters who travelled to make
this such a fantastic trip for everyone.
